Municipal Vulnerability Program

Hampden and East Longmeadow are sharing a state grant of $389,092 to study the vulnerability of each community to severe weather, especially flooding.  In Hampden, the project is focusing on several most vulnerable areas like East Main Street.  Once the study is complete, the Town will apply for an additional grant to, for example, make upstream changes and culvert improvements where Big Brook enters the Scantic River where major flooding has occured in the past.
